Wine Tasting #6

Name: Uberlese Riesling 2022

Variety: Riesling

Country: Germany

Region: Pfalz, Germany

Vintage: 2022

Price: $10.99

Review: "Medium-bodied, lovely flavors of peach and stone, with a hint of apricot. Crisp, elegant, fresh and balanced."(wegmans.com only place I found a review of the wine and where I bought it from, not sure why)

Wine Folly: pg. 158-159. they mention in the region of Pfalz, Germany there are notes of apricot, lemon, beeswax, petroleum, and wet slate. I got a lot of the apricot and a hint of beeswax. I did not get any petroleum(although I don't even know if I would know if I tasted that or not) or wet slate. I got the Meyer lemon taste, but not overpowering just enough to taste the acidic component. They explain rieslings can be dry or sweet, I would say this wine is sweet.

My Review: This is my new favorite wine, not too sweet, but perfectly sweet with a hint of acidity to make for the perfect balance. I got lots of notes of peach and apricot. I also got notes of lemon that made for the perfect acidic taste. I got hints of beeswax, honey taste, but not overpowering like previous Rieslings I've had where those flavors tend to take over. I got a refreshing bouquet kind of taste out of this wine, maybe that is due to the light style of the wine, but I thought there was a hint of greenery throughout. My honest opinion is it tasted like if you added a bit of sugar to a pinot grigio, which is right up my alley. I did not have this with food. I will be repurchasing.
